HIP4082 – 80V H-Bridge N-Channel MOSFET Driver IC for PWM Motor Control and UPS Applications
The HIP4082 is a versatile medium-frequency, medium-voltage H-Bridge driver IC designed to drive N-Channel MOSFETs in high-efficiency DC motor control, uninterruptible power supplies (UPS), and other full-bridge applications. Available in compact 16-lead SOIC and DIP packages, the HIP4082 is ideal for systems where board space and cost are critical.
Operating at supply voltages up to 80V, the HIP4082 supports moderate power applications, offering robust and flexible performance. It features a programmable dead time range of 0.1 μs to 4.5 μs, enabling reliable switching frequencies up to 200 kHz and allowing designers to finely tune switching behavior to prevent shoot-through and enhance system efficiency.
The HIP4082 offers a non-latching level-shift control for the high-side drivers, eliminating the need for a built-in charge pump while simplifying the circuit architecture. Its flexible input protocol supports all valid MOSFET switching combinations, excluding those that could cause cross-conduction, ensuring system safety and control accuracy.
For higher gate drive current needs, alternatives such as the HIP4080A and HIP4081A are recommended. However, the HIP4082’s reduced drive strength, wide dead-time programmability, and smaller package size make it an excellent choice for cost-sensitive, compact, and high-speed H-bridge motor drive applications.
